About

ANOTHER DELAY PLUG-IN?

We realize delay is not a new effect. It’s been created by tapes, “bucket brigade” chips, garden hoses, and various digital technologies. There are products that model these techniques, but honestly, we don’t care about any of that.

We started with: Why do you want a delay effect on your record? Then we threw out the delay designers handbook and tried to build the best sounding, easiest to use echo plug-in for today's music.

We even innovated a couple things along the way, like...

NEW RHYTHMIC OPTIONS

A feedback delay can add rhythmic spice to your production, but the options are only on-beat, or off-beat. Recirculate fixes this by adding control over the all important first echo.

Set a downbeat echo with dotted repeats for a subtle shuffle feel. Or an eighth note first echo with quarter note repeats for a straight echo on the upbeats. It sounds simple, but it’s an incredibly powerful rhythmic tool.

Add Vocal Swells

Recirculate's powerful ducker pushes effect out of the way of the dry signal, allowing you create create amazing vocal swells.

This examples shows the Vocal Swell preset, then the dry sound, then back to the Vocal Swell preset, then the Vocal Stutter Verb preset.

Create Giant Ethereal Spaces

Recirculate has a powerful reverb inside its feedback loop. Because it's in the feedback loop with heaps of complex nonlinear processing we can create giant ethereal reverbs that constantly change, but never end.

This examples shows the Infinite Fade preset on a sparse vocal, first mixed in, then briefly pulled out to dry, then mixed again, and eventually lingering until we manually fade out.

Add Presence to a Vocal

Featuring a lead vocal is often about bringing it forward and making a space for it to live. But making space doesn't always mean a huge cavernous echo-verb, a simple slap delay with the right compression and drive can add presence to your vocal and feature it properly.

Feature a Rap Vocal

Rap vocals need to be front and center - and big enough to compete with the rest of a hard hitting production. By creating a barely audible slap, with filtered and reverberated off-time cross-fed repeats, we can make the performance sound huge and in your face at the same time.

Help a Snare Out

Sometimes a dull lifeless snare drum is what you want. Other times, not so much. If yours needs help we can fix that with a touch of slap back, some reverb, drive, and compression. Small changes to FEEDBACK and DECAY will make a huge difference here.

This examples shows the Snare's Little Helper preset on three snare drums, two hits wet, then two hits dry, for each.

Add Only Upbeat Echoes

Delay plug-ins usually allow for rhythmic echoes like a quarter note - giving a repeat on every beat, or on an eighth note - giving a repeat on every beat and between the beats. But Recirculate allows you to set the first and repeat echoes separately, so you can repeats between the beats, only. Perfect for offtime genre's like reggae, dub, or dancehall.

Spice Up Boring Drums

Sometimes the drums have a good groove, but they're just a little boring. Delay can be a great way to add a little push and pull, but it can overpower the groove, too. Recirculate's Transient control can add an echo to just the drums attacks, adding a dash of spice without overpowering the performance.
